Yay! New Markers!

I just love it when the new markers come.  Each one is full of color and promise.  The drawing underneath my 7 newest colors will be called "Patience."  I had to wait to ink it as the colors I wanted to use were not here.

Mayor of Biztown

BizTown is a program run by Junior Achievement where kids get to work in a simulated town.  Everybody gets a job--too bad it's not like that in real life!  My son is running for Mayor of BizTown and this is the campaign poster that I did for him.  We figured it was memorable for the voters of its orignal candidate.   Ry's slogan is: "The A+ Candidate" a play on the fact that Ry is a straight A student and his last name begins with A.

Fallish Skirt and Top

We only have JoAnne fabrics in our town since Walmart dropped their fabric store entirely.  Still mad about that.  One of my favorite things to do when I go to JoAnne's is to go directly to the back where they have the sale fabric and a little cart of remnants.  Right now, while Katie is still little, those 24" and smaller remnants can yeild a big result.  I found this adorable floral corduroy piece and made her a simple skirt using a hem technique by Oliver & S .  I had this gold sweatshirt, that I was saving for just the right thing, and used more of the fabric to redo the bottom so it didn't look so sweatshirty.  K has requested that I make a cute bird to put on the front.

This is K's Halloween witch skirt.  She wore this over a black dress.  I used Oliver & S's ribbon hem technique here too.  It's become my favorite way to hem little girl's skirts :)

The Day After

Before there can be Halloween, there is Crazy Hair Day one of our favorite days of the year. We really need to invest in some new colored hairspray though.

This year's Halloween was fraught with wardrobe malfunctions--the witch hat and wig would not stay on, the sword-thru-the-head was uncomfy and the blue overalls were too big and the straps kept sliding off.  Still, there was a good haul and we had fun despite the rain.   From L-R:  Dude with a sword through the head, witch and Mario of DS fame.
